- Live Communications Server 2005 does not have separate standard and enterprise CALs; only the one license is needed.
For web conferencing, voice over IP, and application sharing capabilities, an enterprise device CAL is required. Enterprise CALs are additive and must be used in conjunction with standard CALs.

This standard external connector (EC) license allows any number of external users or devices to access a single installation of Office Communications Server or Live Communications Server.
Generally, an external user is defined as anyone who is not an employee of the organization. For example, external users can include clients, suppliers, and alumni of the organization. External users do not include independent contractors, agents, service providers, or other persons providing services to or on behalf of the organization holding the license.
The EC license may not be used as a means of reselling or repackaging Communications Server as a hosted service.
For web conferencing, voice over IP, and application sharing capabilities, an enterprise EC license is required. The enterprise EC license is additive and must be used in conjunction with a standard EC license.
Device CALs and user CALs are also available for internal use. A device CAL authorizes one computer to access the server, regardless of the number of users. A user CAL authorizes one user to access the server on any number of devices.
- Windows Remote Desktop Services Device CAL (Includes Software Assurance)Admin Fee: Rs297.03SKU: LS-40631Windows Remote Desktop Services, formerly known as Windows Terminal Services, is a technology that lets users remotely execute applications on Windows Server from a wide range of devices over virtually any type of network connection. Clients are available for a wide variety of operating systems — including older versions of Windows and Mac OS X — and can be downloaded from Microsoft's Web site. They will be able to run applications on Windows Server in a window on the terminal.
This technology is included in Windows Server, but a Windows Remote Desktop Services client access licence (CAL) is required for each device or user accessing Windows Remote Desktop Services. This is in addition to the Windows Server CAL that is required for each device or user accessing Windows Server.
This device CAL authorizes one computer to access Windows Remote Desktop Services, regardless of the number of users (for example, on a shared workstation). User CALs are also available. A user CAL authorises a user to access Windows Remote Desktop Services from any device (for example, when an employee accesses the server from a computer at work and another at home).
Windows Remote Desktop Services CALs will permit access to Windows Terminal Services, and Terminal Services CALs that were valid for Windows Server 2008 will still permit access to Windows Remote Desktop Services.
