Windows Server 2008 for Itanium-Based Systems is a server operating system optimised for the Intel Itanium processor's native 64-bit processing and Explicitly Parallel Instruction Computing (EPIC) architecture. In its sole roles of Application Server and Web Services, it provides a foundation for computationally intensive business analytics and enterprise applications.
Service Pack 2 (SP2) fully integrates the Hyper-V virtualization environment, improves power management, and adds support for new types of hardware, including Blu-ray Disc.
